Bank Buster

Methodic Solutions 1988

Despite a opening animation sequence which attempts to con you into thinking your playing something which is far more involving, Bank Buster is just a Breakout clone, and not a very good one at that. It is in fact a stinking pile of old jobs, from the oh too slowly dissolving title to the gameplay itself. The aim of the game is to break the bricks (representing soil) in order to get access to the banks basement. Bizarrely this game actually gets easier as you go along. This is due to the fact that you initially start with a bricks virtually right on top of you bat, which makes it extremely difficult to actually clear a path through. The fact that the ball doesn't seem to respond to the normal physics of such games also doesn't help much. There are very few twists, a few 'brick' bricks are interspersed with the 'soil' bricks which take a few more hits to shatter. Also there are dynamite bricks which have the obvious effect. I can't imagine anyone wanting to persevere with this to be quite honest. Avoid!
