Asteroids Deluxe (Atari/Paradox 1987)
Slightly updated version of the Asteroids genre, with a few changes to the gameplay. Firstly and most importantly there is no longer any warp. Instead you get a shield which causes you to bounce off asteroids. This makes things a bit more predictable but takes away some of that random fun aspect to the game. The second difference is some new asteroids, such as ones which break up when you hit them and then start homing in on you. The aliens are a bit more aggressive than in the original and seem intent on targetting in on you. The graphics are marginally better than the original but nothing special. This game is really a half way house between the straight up original and Atari's later (and much better than this) Blasteroids. If your a fan of the genre then you probably can't go wrong with this game, but the two previously mentioned games are a lot better.
