Army Moves (Imagine/Dinamic 1988 - Marc E. H. Dawson)

Another ridiculously hard horizontal scrolling game, this time so shockingly hard I couldn't get off the first level with an infinite lives cheat. I know some people live for this sort of challenge, but this game really could have done with a slightly easier intro level to work people into it. It's not as if it's a stunningly good looking game either. There's some nice parallax scrolling the sprites are pretty basic. Collision detection is appalling. While you're playing a thoroughly irritating theme tune burbles away in the background. As it was so hard I can only tell you about the first mission, which has you controlling a jeep (Silkworm style) and shooting down helicopters and blowing up enemy vehicles. I seem to remember the later levels were based around different themes (i.e. you get out of your jeep) but quite what they were I can't remember. There is a kind of Midnight Resistance feel to this one, so if the idea kind of grabs you I'd go for that instead. Prequel to the equally hard Navy Moves.

Zogging Hell Rating: 4/10
