Toki

Ocean 1991

Once again, a rare treat from Ocean. A later game again, along with Robocop 3 and Epic, Toki is another example of how someone at Ocean must have grasped quality control. A decent platformer from Ocean is about as rare as the Amiga CDTV (ooooooh political!). Toki is a poor human who unfortuantly in pure Chuck Rock style has had his girlfriend pinched by a very nasty chap indeed. Unfortuantly for Toki the evil do-er took things a step further by transforming him into an ape. Unfortuantly to get himself back to being a human (and get himself back onto the cover of Mens Health) and get his missus back, beef cake Toki has to find this bugger and give him a darn good British thrashing. Tragically in a usual baddie kind of way the evil bast has made a bit of a slip up. Toki can now shoot bullets (or whatever they are; nuts perhaps?) from his mouth. All he has to do is to get himself through some platform mayhem and everthing will be fine. Toki's graphics are superb and this is one of the prettiest platformers on the ST. Gameplay is spot on, with a considerable similarity to the Super Mario games. It sounds alright too. I hate to say it but this is good stuff.
