Days of Thunder

Having a name like Days of Thunder can't do much for a game. For a start you get reminded of a rather tedious 'all American' film with that wonky toothed migit millionaire film star Tom Cruise being useless (as usual) in it. Let's face it, why do women find this man attractive? He's knee high to a badger, and is desperately in need of someone taking his jaw and rotating until his proper front teeth are actually at the front of his mouth. Not to mention the fact his wife dumped him after she saw that they actually were actually not very talented in bed together (Eyes wide shut anyone). No, hold on I've taken that too far. No-one should be judged on they're looks alone (the author suddenly wonders about the response he'll get if he ever gets round to updating the site with a photo of himself), Tommy boy's got great personality and just ooozes charisma. Er well maybe not. So perhaps he is a bit of a ugly muppet then.
Anyway back to the game then, and, unlike our Tom, Days of Thunder is actually rather skillo. Good looks (Tom only just survived a heavy thrashing from the ugly stick when he was young), reasonable sound effects (Tom would bore your parents to death with his intimate knowledge of the mating calls of various farm yard animals), and above all else good playability (As Nicole would no doubt confirm Tom's a bit crap as far as 'playability' is concerned, in fact I'm sure he has very poor control when she handles his joystick). Erhmmm perhaps that's enough character bashing; I will not mention Tom Cruise again. Join us tommorrow when we systematically destroy another poor celebs reputation (How about Paul Daniels. Ah too late).
Days of Thunder is, thankfully just based on the racing part of the film and has nothing whatsoever to do with the 'a trifle boring' love dubby bits. It's suprisingly addictive, much in the style of Sega Touring Car Championships and F335. The ST again impresses with some pretty good 3D graphics, though perhaps a little more detail in places wouldn't have gone a miss. Mind you, that Tom Cruise, he's a bit of a plonk...[snip]
