Baal

Psygnosis 1988. Written and designed by Wayne Smithson. Game graphics by Chris Warren. Music by Mike and Tony. Title graphics by Jeff Bramfitt.

One of the earlier creations of Psygnosis (the team responsible for Wipeout on the 32bit/64bit consoles), this is an excellent platformer. Graphics are suitably bleak and weird as your Space Marine harnesses the latest technology and goes in search of the evil god Baal. Tragically claustrophobics will be dissapointed to learn that Baal takes place in a series of underground caverns. If that wasn't enough, a whole menagere of nasties lurk in the darkness. So a bit like Wookie Hole at the height of the tourist season then. Boom Boom (I crack myself up). Its very hard, but the spooky tense atmosphere is excellent.

Zogging Hell Rating: 8/10

Cheats

Apparently typing LOVEBUNDLE into the highscore table allows you enter the games built in trainer mode, now I've tried this, and you do apparently go into the trainer mode, quite what your mean't to do after this is unclear, as I found playing the game after activating this mode to be no different to before. I still died. Damn. The Transporter Codes for Level 1 are: 13 00 29 16 24, 64 53 50 25 04, 58 49 48 38, and 32 68 00 29. For Level 2, they are: 12 12 48 56 30, 17 54 35 02 34, 24 34 and 02 06.
