Troy Aikman Football

Not true football, of course, but the American rugby variant. Now I must admit to knowing very little about American football, and the bits I do know haven't exactly left me brimming with enthusiasm. It always seemed to me to be a bit like Rugby League but with a bunch of pansies in body armour shouting 'hut hut hut'. In fact the only endearing feature of the game seemed to be the scantily clad cheer leaders. T.A. football on the Jag unfortunately doesn't feature any cheer leaders, which was a bit of a dissapointment. However it does manage to be the first decent version of American football I've played on a console. It's a bit SNES like in the graphics department, and sonically it's not going to set the world alight. The intro sequence, which is virtually a shrine to old Troy himself, makes you want to vomit. Sorry, but what a knob. When you get into the game itself though, everything is really quite straight foward. You can bother with tactics if you want to, and there's enough plays out there to have your average American Football geek soiling himself with excitment. But you really don't have to bother with them too much. In fact if you find two or three that work, then that's really all you need.
So Aikman is actually pretty good and is probably the best sports sim I've played on the Jag (though Fever Pitch might just pip it in the two player department).
