About
the ST Games Pages
An attempt to put together a list of all the ST games ever created. Eventually this will include screen shots, a review, a rating from as many sources as poss (mainly from mags such as ST Action and Zero though starting with one from me), all known cheats, coders and software company. If we eventually go down that road versions of the games may be available for download. This guide was aided in its construction by the ST Format buyers guide and Silica catalogue. There was a lot of other painful reading up done as well. Note: These games are not for sale. If you want to get hold of them and you have a PC then the best place to look is on the 'Little Green Desktop' site in the links page. If you still are one of the faithful, then its more difficult (oddly) and your best bet is to use Make Disk (on the PC) or Jay MSA (on the ST) on the files you get from LGD. I may be able to help other than that but don't expect miracles. I won't for example be able to rustle up a copy of a very rare original version of Mario ripp off, Great Giana Sisters. I haven't even got it myself.. How the Scoring Works Until this feature is well matured there will usually only be one score, a rating assigned by Zogging Hell. This is a personnel feeling about the game, it's usually fairly comparable with reviews from magazines though admittedly I tend to prefer some games to others and so the scores may differ slightly. The rating given by Zogging Hell generally covers the whole experience, without worrying to much about individual parts of the game. It should be pointed that a game with such awful music and sounds that your ears and eyes want to bleed after playing will be given a crap mark. Later, or in the case of Afterburner, now, the reviews will include ratings from the top ST games magazines such as ST Action (which was particularly harsh with it's early reviewing (or fair depending on your opinion), The One (another mag re-knowned for it's nastiness), ST Format, and Atari ST user. There will also be a rating from the infamous multiformat mag Zero. If possible (if I can get hold of them!), reviews from multiformat mags CVG and ACE as well as ones from ST Review and the very early editions of ST World will be included as well. These ratings. will be in more depth than the Zogging Hell ones, mainly because Zogging Hell have a slightly distorted view of what exactly good graphics are and partly (or mainly) because we have no idea how to grade graphics from this period for modern gamers. Needless to say the ratings in these reviews are based against other ST games. The Cheats A rapidly growing number of the games will have known cheats printed below the review. Zogging Hell can't guarrantee these will work. Zogging Hell does try most of them, but obviously the ST is not the be all and end all of life so some might slip through. They're are sometimes numerous versions of games, and sometimes cheat routines that worked in earlier versions of games don't work in later ones. Sometimes cheats don't work at all, and have just been made up. If your cheat doesn't work experiment a bit. Try typing it in different places, or at different speeds. Try adding or leaving out spaces or try capital letters. Alternatively, those of you who use the slightly illegal cracked games for the emulators, will normally find that they include 'Trainers' that allow you to adjust the amount of lives etc. Sometimes these don't work as well, but hey, sometimes the pirates couldn't get the game to work, let alone a get a working cheat for it. Good Luck Go forth and enjoy the ST, stay calm, and most of all have fun ;-)
